I blame this band's guitarist to have converted a whole generation of guitarists to nerd, technichal and academic oriented performers. We don't have cool and fun guitarists anymore, hence the decline of rock music.

Lucky Now is a great song lyrically. I'm so thankful for his gift . As humans are all interconnected we should try to appreciate one another far more than we do. Just my opinion.

The most important member of a band is the chief songwriter. Pink Floyd , AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Van Halen, all were successful using different singers.

Jar of Flies and self-titled were great. You contradict yourself because most of the best songs on dirt were written and recorded within the same month. Half the album was labored over songwriting-wise, the other half spontaneous. Self-titled was them evolving. Beautiful harmonies courtesy of Layne.

I mean, for one who cares enough about who Bowie "stole" from in the 90's, even as a huge fan. He was quoted as loving the Young Gods' material circa '88-'92, as well as Coil, KMFDM, and the aforementioned Scott Walker (1 track in particular was a conscious effort to guess what his next album would sound like since by '94 when the bulk of Outside was recorded, he didn't release anything in a decade, and he got damn close to 'Tilt' territory. Earthling was definitely inspired by Photek, Dillinja, and Goldie, who he made sure to handpick for the remixes for the singles, guessing to expose his mostly boomer audience to contemporaneous acts in frankly at the tail-end of jungle's golden era. Tin Machine is a dad rock version of the Pixies and Hüsker Dü, but add rockabilly to the mix (because age is never invisible).

I figured out he's a pretentious fraud when I watched an Inside The Actors Studio episode about him. I'm still shocked this happened.

In the 90s we had Stone Temple Pilots who watered down grunge. Today we have 21Pilots who water down rap reggae & pop rock. Conclusion: Never trust a band whose band name has "pilot" in it.
